David L. Kang
David leads all executive education programs at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining Stanford GSB, David was a member of the academic faculty at Apple University and was previously Senior Director, News Monetization and Strategy at Apple News, leading Apple’s advertising sales partnership with NBC Universal. David was Chief Revenue Officer at Wenner Media (Rolling Stone, Us Weekly), Creative Director of Content Extensions at Hearst Magazines (Cosmopolitan, Esquire), and Senior Vice President of Digital at Rodale, Inc. (Men’s Health, Eat This, Not That!). David has worked as a Digital Media consultant at McKinsey and Company, and served as Senior Vice President of New Technology and Strategic Development at BMG Entertainment (RCA, Arista). David has also worked in artist management as Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy at The Firm (Backstreet Boys, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, Kelly Clarkson, Criss Angel).
David is a former Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Organizational Behavior Area at Harvard Business School. David’s research has been in corporate governance and the impact of ownership type on firm performance focusing on family-owned businesses, and has been published in Annual Review of Sociology. David holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University / Harvard Business School, an MA in Sociology from Harvard University, a JD from Harvard Law School, and an AB in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University.
