Finding the Idea, Ning

By Katherine Bose, Garth Saloner
2008 | Case No. E314
The protagonist is Gina Bianchini, a 32-year-old GSB graduate recovering from having co-founded a well-funded, well-led, but failed tech company. When presented with the opportunity of starting a new company in the social networking space with her former colleague Marc Andreessen, the cofounder of Netscape, Bianchini is very much drawn to the idea. However, she finds herself questioning whether she has the energy level she knows the venture will demand and deserve.
