Begüm Doğan Faralyali received her bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy from London School of Economics and earned her MBA degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

She started her professional career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen’s New York office and moved to the London office of Monitor Group, where she worked as a consultant for restructuring European media and technology companies.

From 2004, she held different positions at Do˘gan Media Group. Starting from 2007, she led the start-up process of Kanal D Romania, a national entertainment channel in Romanian, which later became one of Romania’s top three channels. She became the chief executive officer of Star TV in 2009 and the president of Do˘gan TV Holding. A publicly traded company with a group of companies in energy, retail, tourism, real estate development, media, and industry, Do˘gan TV Holding contains two national entertainment channels, a news channel, radio stations, and a production company.

Begüm Do˘gan Faralyalı became the chairwoman of Do˘gan Holding in January 2012 which is a publicly traded company with a group of companies in energy, retail, tourism, real estate development, media and industry. She is president of Do˘gan Burda Magazine Group and Do˘gan Egmont Publishing Group and Kanal D Romania.

She is on the advisory board of Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She is the founder and active spokesperson of the Common Values Movement in Turkey and a volunteer ambassador for a Values-Driven Society. She is also a board member of the trustees of World Wildlife Fund; the dream partner of Young Guru Academy, a nonprofit organization working with young social entrepreneurs; and a member of the advisory board of UNDP Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development.
