Waqar is an avid reader, a decorated debater, a physics nerd, and a philosophy enthusiast from Pakistan. He is passionate about creating impact from digital ecosystems in emerging markets. For three of the last six years, he managed the 3G/4G internet access P&L and grew it 10x into a $100 million business for his employer. After six months as an internal management consultant in Myanmar, he returned to his company’s digital division as the head of its IoT unit. He led a turnaround, pioneering a “connected car” IoT solution he developed in-house. Then, dual-hatting as head of digital-strategy, he charted a way forward for various new digital ventures. In his most recent assignment as head of digital telco, he brought his energies to bear on rescuing a major moon-shot project.
