Curriculum

Apply strategic frameworks and strengthen leadership skills to develop a practical, tactical crisis management plan.

When it comes to a crisis, it’s not a question of if, but when. No leader can ever anticipate when a crisis will arise, but Crisis Management for Leaders makes sure you’re prepared to handle it. When faced with these out-of-the-ordinary, speed-is-of-the-essence threats, leaders must take responsibility and respond quickly. Different management mindsets and toolkits are required. This carefully-developed crisis management curriculum will help you understand where a crisis comes from, how it evolves, and what you can do about it. It’s strategic and actionable, theoretical and tactical.

Crisis Management for Leaders is a Stanford Intensive live online program so the crisis management curriculum is designed for high impact in a short amount of time. In eight sessions over four days, you’ll engage deeply with world-renowned researchers in faculty-led sessions, discuss case studies that bring key concepts to life, and put learning into action with a comprehensive crisis simulation and debrief.

Program Highlights

Below are just a few of the sessions you’ll attend as part of the program.

Crisis Simulation

You will engage in a simulation of a real-life crisis scenario, acting as a leader of an organization facing a crisis firsthand. Working closely in a small team, you will develop a strategy and execute a crisis response. The experience will prove invaluable when you face a real crisis in your organization.

Speaking and Acting with Power

In a crisis, communication is crucial. We influence others not just through what we say, but also how we say it and how we conduct ourselves. In this session, we will evaluate two different situations and discuss what the protagonists did well and poorly. You will then have an opportunity to develop and practice your ability to act and speak with power.
